Roadie (“Roadie,” “we,” “us”) is an app that lets Shopify merchants add music-specific section blocks — an album-drop hero, a discography grid, an audio preview player, streaming links, and more — to their online store. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it plain and honest.
The short version
Roadie only handles the information it needs to add its blocks to your store. The releases, tracks, and audio you add live in your own Shopify store, not in our database. We do not collect personal information from your storefront visitors, we do not set advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell anyone's data.
Information we collect
From you, the merchant
When you install Roadie, Shopify shares standard account details with us so the app can work in your admin. This includes your store's domain, the basic profile of the person who installs the app (such as name, email address, and locale provided by Shopify), and an access token that lets the app act on your store within the permissions you grant.
Roadie requests permission to read your theme (so the blocks can be turned on from your theme editor), to read and write metaobjects and products (so your releases, streaming links, and audio tracks can be saved to your store), and to read and write files (so the audio you upload can be stored on Shopify's content delivery network). Roadie does not request access to your customers or orders.
Content you create
The releases and tracks you add in the app are stored in your own Shopify store, not in our database. This includes your release details (such as title, cover artwork, year, a linked product, and streaming links like Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp), your audio tracks (title and audio file), and the order you arrange them in. Release and track details are saved as metaobjects and metafields on your store, audio files are saved to your store's Shopify file storage, and your current plan is recorded on your store. Roadie reads this content back to render the blocks on your storefront.
From your storefront visitors
Roadie does not collect personal information from people who visit your store. The blocks are rendered by your store's theme, and the audio player plays your files using your visitor's browser. Roadie does not set tracking or advertising cookies and does not save anything on the visitor's device or send any visitor information to us.
How we use information
We use the information above to run the app: to authenticate your store, save and read back your releases and settings, store and deliver your audio to your storefront, apply the limits of your plan, and provide support when you ask for it. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.
How information is shared
We share information only with the services that make the app run:
- Shopify — the platform Roadie is built on. Your account details, theme access, releases, tracks, and uploaded files are handled through Shopify and stored on your store.
- Our hosting provider — Roadie runs on Railway, with a PostgreSQL database, which stores your session (your store's domain, the installer's profile, and the access token) on our behalf.
We may also disclose information if required by law. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your session data for as long as the app is installed on your store. When you uninstall Roadie, the access token for your store is revoked and the related session data is removed. The releases, tracks, streaming links, and audio files you created live in your own Shopify store and can be removed from there at any time. You can also ask us to delete the data associated with your store by emailing us, and we will do so.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the information we handle, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, contact us using the details below and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
